The lineage
The Kariyat family has produced Ayurvedic physicians for seven generations. Dr Sudheer was initiated into the Ashta Vaidyan tradition of Kerala. Dr Meera holds an MD in Rasa Sastra and sits on the board of a 17,000-member pharmacy founded in 1944.
Institutional standing
IMPCOPS was established in 1944 and has 17,000 members comprising traditional vaidyas and AYUSH practitioners. It manufactures around 1,000 traditional preparations. Dr G Meera is one of sixteen elected directors for the 2022–2027 term, under the presidency of Dr Kannan BSMS MD, and focuses on developing research on AYUSH medicines in association with prominent scientific institutions including IIT Chennai.
